So many artists, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, show recaps, track premieres, and more all day. That includes a lot of tour announcements, a list of tonight’s NYC shows, and NY shows that just went on sale. We publish a monthly playlist of some of our favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place…
HAYLEY WILLIAMS - "MY FRIEND"
The eighth taste of Paramore singer Hayley Williams' debut solo album Petals For Armor is here. This is a more chilled-out song, and it's another promising taste of this highly anticipated LP.

ANGEL OLSEN - "ALL MIRRORS" (JOHNNY JEWEL REMIX)
“I’ve been listening to Chromatics for years but I never thought I’d get the chance to meet them or work with Johnny,” says Angel Olsen of this very Chromatics-y remix of the title track from last year's All Mirrors. “It’s always interesting to me what other people hear in something, how one slight movement can change a song completely. I love how he took my vocal lead melody and followed it, making a completely different route for 'All Mirrors' as a wonder-dream dance song.”

WASHED OUT - "TOO LATE"
Chillwave survivor Washed Out, who is back on Sub Pop after an album for Stones Throw, is back with a new single and a video that is slightly different than the one he'd planned originally. "I’d spent months planning a music video for a new song called 'Too Late,'" says Washed out alter ego Ernest Greene. "My inspiration was a Mediterranean sunset I saw late last year, and the plan was to shoot on the coast of Italy with a team of UK and European collaborators." Coronavirus got in the way, however, so Greene turned to Washed Out fans to submit footage. "I went in thinking if I got 100 clips, I’d have enough to make the video I wanted to make. 30 minutes in, I had the 100 clips, and a few days in, I had over 1,200 clips - from London, Bali, Okinawa, Ann Arbor, Dubrovnik and a few hundred other places around the world. It was pretty amazing for me to see the vids and pics flood in like they did."

KAITLYN AURELIA SMITH - "THE STEADY HEART"
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith was set to be on tour with Caribou right now, supporting her upcoming album The Mosaic of Transformation which is out next month. Those plans are on hold but you can get a taste of the amazing visuals that were created for her live show via the video for "The Steady Heart" which turns the human form into gorgeous kaleidoscopic images. The song itself is warm and ethereal, with layers of synths and voices washing over you like gentle waves.

JARBOE - "MAN OF HATE"
Former Swans member Jarboe, who has collaborated with Neurosis, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Jesu, Father Murphy and more over the years, releases new album Illusory next week and here's another haunting, gothy folk track from it featuring her otherworldly vocals. "Man of Hate" a reworked version of her song from 1991's Thirteen Masks and the accompanying video is a perfect, eerie match.

PHOEBE BRIDGERS - "KYOTO"
Phoebe Bridgers has finally officially announced her anticipated sophomore album, and she shared the second single, which features horns by Bright Eyes' Nate Walcott. Read more here.

EOB (RADIOHEAD) - "CLOAK OF THE NIGHT" (ft. LAURA MARLING)
Ed's new album comes out next week and Laura's new album comes out this week, but first listen to them harmonize on this gorgeous new folk song (from Ed's album). Read more here.

RICO NASTY - "POPSTAR"
We never have to wait too long for Rico Nasty to release a new song, which is great news, especially when they continue to be this good.

KOJEY RADICAL - "PROUD OF YOU"
UK rapper Kojey Radical returns with his new single of 2020, a genre-defying rap/R&B blend called "Proud of You."

KEMBA - "PISCES"
Bronx rapper Kemba follows last month's "None of This Matters" with another dark, eerie new single, "Pisces."

AZITA - "SHOOTING BIRDS OUT OF THE SKY"
It's been a while since we've heard from Chicago's AZITA and "Shooting Birds Out of the Sky" makes for a very welcome return, with a soulful, stick-in-your head chorus. Welcome back!

PROTO IDIOT - "MOUNTAIN"
Manchester garage punks Proto Idiot are back with a new single. Fueled by a dirty organ, "Mountain" powers on with it's group chanted chorus.

YOUTH CODE - "PUZZLE"
"'Puzzle' is a song written with the mindset of what happens when everything is ruined and defeat is the ever racing thought that paces the mind," say industrial duo Youth Code. "Given the current climate, artistic individuals being forced to take pause whatsoever can be very difficult and harrowing. Hopefully with continuing creativity and furthering new breath into these tracks, we will have given way to inspiration for all and added just a little more gasoline to our internal burning fires." It's pretty killer, and you can also add your own touch to it by downloading the song's files from The Armed's ISOLATE/CREATE website and remixing/reworking/doing whatever you want with them.

ACXDC - "COPSUCKER"
Here's another whiplash-inducer from LA grinders ACxDC's upcoming Satan Is King. "Anyone that supports cops, politicians, judges, military, dictators, nazis, fascists and generally authoritarians of that ilk are copsuckers. Bootlicking of any type other than BDSM is for posers. Firefighters are chill," they tell Decibel.

CHARLI XCX - "FOREVER"
Charli XCX released her last album, Charli, last year, and she's working on a new one while in coronavirus quarantine, working title How I'm Feeling Now. It's due out on May 15, and she's shared its first single, the bouncy "Forever."

WARES - "LIVING PROOF"
Canadian indie rockers Wares have shared another song off their upcoming album Survival, and this one's more of an atmospheric slow-burner.

ELLEFSON (MEGADETH) - "SIMPLE TRUTH"
Megadeth bassist David Ellefson has released a new EP to benefit Italian COVID-19 relief foundations, featuring the new song "Simple Truth," as well as live in Milan versions of "If You Were God" and "Vultures," and a new mix of the latter.

DEVON WILLIAMS - "CIRCUS WORLD"
Devon Williams will release new album A Tear in the Fabric on May 1 via Slumberland and he's just released this very jangly, very of-the-moment single and video. "'Circus World’ is just feeling like everything is absurd, and finding the humor in it makes it a little more palatable," say Devon. "Am I a joke for always trying to find to humor in the world? Or is the world full of clowns? Really, it’s tough to decide when the joke has gone too far. The video was made by Mike Cullen. He’s made a handful of videos for me—’Pendulum,’ ‘Puzzle,’ ‘Revelations.’ He and I pulled clips that represented the harsh contrast you’d find on TV and internet. It’s disturbing to try and navigate, and I think the clips show the absurdity of that contrast.”

NEIL YOUNG - "SHUT IT DOWN 2020"
Neil Young has shared a new version of ecological anthem “Shut it Down,” originally on last year’s album with Crazy Horse, Colorado, that Neil says was inspired by fans reaching out to him online, expressing the increased relevance of the song since the coronavirus pandemic.

GORILLAZ - "ARIES" FT. PETER HOOK AND GEORGIA
Gorillaz have just shared "Aries," the latest in their Song Machine series. It's a melancholic synthpop number featuring the instantly distinctive melodic bass stylings of New Order's Peter Hook, plus percussionist/producer Georgia.

EVA HENDRICKS (CHARLY BLISS) - "HEY JULIE" (FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE COVER)
Charly Bliss vocalist paid tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne with a cover of their song "Hey Julie," from 2003's Welcome Interstate Managers.

Yesterday, Owen released a cover of The 1975‘s “Me” for Polyvinyl’s Stay Home benefit compilation, and he turned it into a hushed, acoustic emo song that pretty much sounds like his own material. Turns out, newer emo band awakebutstillinbed had a cover of that same song recorded in that same fashion siting in their vault for almost three years, and now — inspired by Owen — they released it!
