Billie Eilish took to social media on Wednesday (March 25) to share all the different music that provided inspiration for each song on her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
It all started when the pop star posted a poll on her Instagram Stories asking fans, "Want lists of songs that inspired each song off the album?" She then proceeded to break down her influences track-by-track -- from "Dang!" (Mac Miller's The Divine Feminine-era collab with Anderson .Paak) inspiring her No. 1 hit "Bad Guy" to Kanye West's "Black Skinhead" holding sway over the sound on "Bury a Friend."
Other significant tracks? Imogen Heap's 2005 hit "Hide and Seek" and Frank Sinatra's "I'm a Fool to Want You" providing a jumping off point for "When the Party's Over" and "8," respectively. Eilish, however, didn't provide playlists for fan-favorite tracks like "You Should See Me in a Crown," "All the Good Girls Go to Hell" or "My Strange Addiction," claiming in a follow-up Story that "the ones i didn't post kinda inspired themselves soooo that's all."
(Several hours later, she also amended her "Bad Guy" playlist, adding rapper-record producer Maejor's 2016 one-off single "Noir" to the list.)
