Masks will be given away to Coachella Valley residents

Guitar string maker Ernie Ball is making and giving away face masks. The company has reconfigured a portion of their Coachella Valley, California factory go begin making 400 two-ply cotton masks per day and then giving them away to local residents.

“We’re in this together. That’s why we’re dedicating our accessories and strap manufacturing departments to producing masks to help fight the spread of COVID-19,” the company says. “The Coachella Valley is our home and we want to help both local charities and residents. Masks will initially be donated to local organizations. In the near future, Coachella Valley residents will be able to sign up online and have a free mask delivered to their home. More details to come. Stay healthy and stay safe!”

The Patch reports that the first masks will be donated to Martha’s Village and Kitchen in Indio, and other local organizations. However, Ernie Ball has not stated when the rest of the masks would become available, as of press time.

Ernie Ball is the second instrument accessories maker to make masks for the COVID-19 pandemic. D’Addario has engineered the clear film used in its popular Evans G2 drumheads to fabricate protective face shields. Their goal is provide 100,000 face shields per week to New York and the nation’s healthcare workers by April 27th.
