From Mac Miller’s ‘Circles’ to Halsey’s ‘Manic,’ What’s Your Favorite New Music Release? Vote!

The new music coming out this week has taken fans by surprise. There's Eminem's unexpected album Music To Be Murdered By, a complete body of work from the late Mac Miller in Circles, and Halsey's genre-defying Manic

The "Hello darkness, my old friend" line echoed throughout Eminem's latest music video for "Darkness" greets a grim, realistic reimagining of the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, interspersed with gun cock sounds as ambient noise, before concluding on a bolded note saying, "When will this end? When enough people care. Register to vote at Vote.gov. Make your voice heard and help change gun laws in America."

Meanwhile, the allusions made in the Jonas Brothers' latest music video for their new single "What A Man Gotta Do" are based on classic films: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra recreate Tom Cruise's famous slick scene in Risky Business, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner cosplay as Danny and Sandy from the dance contest in Grease, and Kevin Jonas and Danielle Jonas act out John Cusak's romantic boombox gesture from Say Anything

Plus, Halsey delivers 16 tracks that strip her of any persona she has attached herself to in past records and deliver her true self in the form of "Ashley," Manic's first song and the singer's real first name. BTS' member Suga gets his own "Suga's Interlude" in Halsey's latest release and tags along with his Bangtan Boys for "Black Swan," the first single off their upcoming LP Map of the Soul: 7 that is also out today.
