Kenneth Faried Arrested For Marijuana Possession: Report

Brooklyn Nets forward Kenneth Faried was reportedly arrested in Long Island early Sunday morning for possessing more than two ounces of marijuana.

According to reports, a vehicle that Faried was riding in on Montauk Highway in Bridgehamption at around 1:30am was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint and the officer at the scene noticed a "strong odor of marjuana was emanating from the inside of the vehicle." Two other people riding in the car were given tickets and released at the scene but Faried, who allegedly had more than two ounces on him, was booked for 4th degree unlawful possession of marijuana and transported to a nearby station for processing.

27East, a Hamptons news website, reports that cash was also seized and that Faried was released on $500 bail. That said, Town Police could not specify how much money was seized or what circumstances led to the money being seized.

The Nets are aware of the arrest and issued a statement: “We are aware of the situation involving Kenneth Faried and are in the process of gathering more information at this time.”

Faried was traded to the Nets last month as part of a salary dump with the Denver Nuggets, that also included Darrell Arthur, a 2019 protected first-round pick and a 2020 second-round pick going to Brooklyn. Faried is owed $13.7 million in the upcoming season.
