MTV’s 2020 VMAs will happen at Barclays Center

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the fate of most large events is still very much uncertain. However, despite this, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced earlier today that the MTV Video Music Awards will be able to take place live this year, as intended, but under slightly different circumstances than we've seen in the past. As Cuomo briefly explained, the VMA's will be held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 30th, but with a reduced crowd (or, perhaps, no audience at all). This idea was previously speculated as early as May.

If everything goes to plan, this will be the second year in a row that the event has been hosted in the tri-state area (last year's having taken place at the Prudential Center in Newark). This will also be the VMA's first return to Barclays since being held there 2013.

Considering the threat of the virus, more details are still pending regarding how the event ultimately unfold. Stay tuned.
