In the midst of nationwide protests against racism and police brutality, Public Enemy debuted a new version of "Fight The Power" last last night's (6/28) BET Awards with new verses by Nas, Black Thought, Rapsody, YG, and Jahi, and scratching by Questlove, alongside PE's own Chuck D, Flavor Flav, DJ Lord, the S1Ws, and Professor Griff. The video comprises newly-filmed performance footage of all the contributors, recent footage of protests, and footage of facemask-wearing people walking the streets with screens showing footage of the rappers involved. The lyrics take on both history and current events, and the new version reminds you how "Fight the Power" is (unfortunately) as relevant and necessary today as it was when it came out 31 years ago.
