System of a Down drummer denies systemic racism, calls Black Lives Matter illegitimate

System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan is on his soapbox again, airing his right wing political views on social media as he so often has before. Spurring his ire this time is a tragic story out of Atlanta, where over the weekend an 8-year-old girl was shot and killed near the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was killed by police. CNN reports, "Secoriea Turner, 8, was shot in the area of University Ave and I-75/85 Saturday night while riding in a vehicle with her mother and an adult friend, according to police. The driver was attempting to enter a parking lot at 1238 Pryor Road where a group of individuals illegally placed barricades. Someone in the group opened fire on the vehicle, according to police, striking Turner."

Dolmayan, posting Turner's picture on Instagram, wrote:

The supposed black lives matter movement never had legitimacy in my view and were always a Democratic Party fundraiser and propaganda tool . Along with antifa they have shown themselves to be the enemy of the people of the United States and have adopted lawlessness emboldened by a sensationalist media and the moronic Hollywood elites who pander to them at every opportunity . They will be brought to justice but when? How many more innocents need to be murdered before we come to our senses.

As Blabbermouth points out, in the replies to his post, a commenter complained that Dolmayan doesn't speak up when Black people experience racial injustice, saying, "downplaying systemic racism in the U.S. is playing a dangerous game." Dolmayan replied, "There is no systemic racism in the United States. Name one example."

Dolmayan's politics, which include calling Trump the "greatest friend to minorities," calling Democrats "the true bigots," and calling the movement to defund the police "the stupidest thing that I've heard," have put him at odds with left-leaning frontman Serj Tankian. Serj recently spoke out about their ideological differences, saying, "My drummer and brother in law @johndolmayan_ whom I love and respect irrespective of our extremely polarized political commentary and differences has always been my stalwart ally in efforts for recognition of the Armenian genocide within Soad."
