The Next James Bond Theme Song Is Being Written by Eilish, Billie Eilish

The "Bad Guy" singer and her brother, Finneas, are collaborating on the track.

Billie Eilish is officially a Bond woman. Less than a day after the 18-year-old singer set 007 watchers into a frenzy by posting an Instagram story that spotlighted Bond actresses including Halle Berry, Eva Green and Lea Seydoux, EON Productions, MGM Studios and Universal Pictures International announced on Tuesday (Jan. 14) that the "Bad Guy" Grammy-nominee will sing the theme song for the upcoming 25th installment in the franchise, No Time To Die.

The song will be released by Darkroom/Interscope Records and is being written by Eilish and her collaborator/brother and fellow artist, Finneas. She joins an elite club that includes the likes of Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Duran Duran, Madonna, Adele and Sam Smith.

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor," said Eilish in a statement. "James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock”. Her brother added, "Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

Bond movies have long featured a title song by a global superstar and No Time producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a statement that they are excited to invite Eilish to the fold. “We are excited to announce that Billie and FINNEAS have written an incredibly powerful and moving song for No Time To Die, which has been impeccably crafted to work within the emotional story of the film," they said.

Eilish is the youngest-ever person to record a Bond theme; Smith was 23 when he recorded the 2015 theme for Spectre, "Writing's on the Wall."

The next bond movie, No Time to Die, will be released on April 10 in North America. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer confirmed on Monday (Jan. 13) that he will compose the score for Daniel Craig's final go-round as Agent 007. No Time to Die also features Oscar-winner Rami Malek as the reported bad guy, Safin. “There are a chosen few who record a Bond theme. I am a huge fan of Billie and Finneas," said director Cary Joji Fukunga in a statement. "Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I cannot wait for audiences to hear what they’ve brought – a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come."
